Aleksis Agustin will be recognized this coming Monday evening as this year’s winner of the Kim Jenkins Student Art Scholarship.
The scholarship, is worth $15 hundred dollars, and is part of the Suncor Student Art Awards in partnership with the Arts Council Wood Buffalo.
Suncor is hosting a reception on September 19 at the Business Centre to recognize all winners of the 2016 SSAA program prizes.
Spokesperson Tyran Ault says the program is well received.
“There’s a great collaboration between Suncor, the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo, and both school boards that gets to see great students display their art here at one of the Suncor buildings abd really just be recognized for their outstanding talent,” says Ault.
He says the program has been going for a few years and it’s great to see the students’ progression adding representatives from Suncor, both school boards and the Arts Council will be on hand to distribute the awards.
Ault adds Suncor’s Community Leaders Reception is coming up October 12 along with the highly anticipated Suncor-Syncrude hockey game to benefit the Fort McMurray United Way.
“Suncor I believe has won seven in a row; last year it went to overtime and it was a really close competitive match-up, so if you’re looking to raise some money for the United Way definitely come out on October 21 and see some great hockey, too,” says Ault.
More information on the reception and hockey game will be available closer to the events.
