Purchasing a handcrafted bowl will help the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
The social profit is hosting its first Empty Bowls Festival this Saturday to raise funds and to bring awareness in the fight to end hunger.
Spokesperson Anna Noble says the unique event has food to sample, fun stuff for kids, and an auction and raffle.
“It’s the first time that we’re doing something like this. We wanted to hold an event where families could come and enjoy themselves, not our usual food drive where we’re just collecting donations. This way the community gets to be involved and then take something with them,” says Noble.
Noble says buy a bowl, sample the food from various vendors and restaurants, and have some family fun from 11 to three at Jubilee Plaza.
Volunteers are also needed and a link for details is here.
