One hundred percent of our agencies didn’t receive 100 percent of what they needed last year.
Those words from Colin Hartigan, Chair of the United Way of Fort McMurray’s Community Campaign.
Saturday morning, Hartigan spoke to a group of about 500 people attending the free pancake breakfast at Shell Place to kickoff the campaign.
The 10 week campaign has a goal of $8 million dollars.
Hartigan says the goal is the same as last year, but he added it’s not about an $8 million goal but an $8 million need.
After breakfast, the audience moved to the indoor turf field at Shell Place to spell out the word home.
“This is home” is the agency’s theme this year.
