I can’t say that I know what’s happening, or (like most perfume ads) what the connection even is to the fragrance. But I guess that’s what you get when you’re trying to sell a scent using images and sounds. It’s almost like trying to temporarily give the viewer a sort of synesthesia for 3 minutes.
Which is probably exactly what makes this bizarre perfume ad for KENZO World – directed by Spike Jonze – so appealing. I’m lost, and I kind of love it. Not to mention the model, named Margaret Qualley, is fascinating to watch in all her frustrated exuberance. Welp, time for a 50th watch..
