Diane Shannon is retiring as Executive Director of the United Way of Fort McMurray in December.
Shannon joined the United Way in 2008 and during her tenure, the size of the community campaign has more than doubled, going from $3.9 million to a high of $8.2 million in 2014.
Shannon has been a key leader in collaborative initiatives including Social Prosperity Wood Buffalo, Poverty Reduction, ConvergenceYMM, and the Strategic Road Map.
President Tony Mankowski says the organization is in a strong position to move forward and begin looking for the right leader to continue the momentum created by Shannon and her team.
The Human Resources Sub-Committee of the Board will begin the recruitment process immediately.
