Summertime is construction time.
More parking spaces and other improvements are being made at MacDonald Island Park beginning today.
Regional Recreation corporation spokesperson Theresa Wells says the parking lot improvement project will include several phases increasing parking lot activity as crews complete the work.
” Well, basically some parking improvements, traffic flow improvements, generally this is meant to improve the experience in the parking lot, but really the significant part of this is the fact that we’re going to be adding some new parking stalls,” says Wells.
Wells says the construction is a good sign for the community.
“It’s a very positive sign and you know, we’re really looking forward to not only the rest of this summer but this fall,” says Wells.
She adds the work will continue into the fall.
Wells says while the work is under way they’re asking visitors, guests, and community members to use increased caution, obey posted signage, and reduce speed.
