Residents, RMWB councillors, and builders are gathering tonight at Syncrude Athletic Park to discuss the rebuild of Abasand.
Nearly 50% of the neighbourhood was destroyed by the fire and access is still restricted to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with resident I.D. Now, residents are looking for answers and ideas on the rebuild.
The organizers are inviting those who have both lost their homes and whose homes are still standing to the event, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
Councillor Keith McGrath will be on-hand to take questions and hear ideas that he can then bring to the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee. Councillor Colleen Tatum will also be listening in.
Residents will also be discussing the possibility of creating a citizen committee for the community, in order to have a “united voice.”
