If you didn’t get a chance to do so yesterday, you can congratulate and celebrate Stanley Barkman’s achievement today.
Barkman began walking from Sioux Lookout, Ontario to Fort McMurray as the wildfire forced the evacuation of the city.
His aim was to raise money for fire relief and awareness about the fire’s devastation.
A crowd of about 200 people were on hand yesterday at the Oil Sands Discovery Centre when Barkman walked the final stretch into the city.
To celebrate his 2,080 kilometre journey, a celebration is being held at Jubilee Plaza from noon to three this afternoon with music, drumming, and lunch provided.
