As part of the effort to ensure clean drinking water as residents return to the region, the RMWB is asking residents who use cistern water tanks to clean them out.
The municipality says that after extended disuse like during the nearly month-long evacuation, emptying, cleaning, and disinfecting cisterns is a good practice.
The recommendation is aimed at residents and businesses in Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates, and the Fort McMurray 468 First Nation. Area campgrounds are also being asked to undergo the maintenance.
The RMWB is continuing to work to make drinking water safe across the region. On Saturday the boil water advisory was lifted for the lower townsite. AHS says it will continue to be lifted in a phased approach.
