Although the hospital isn’t up and running to full capacity there are still some services available.
Alberta Health Services says the emergency department at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre is up and running 24/7 along with the main hospital phone number (780-791-6161). The centre is expected to be operating in full capacity June 21.
The surgical team is there to manage the potential for rare life-threatening surgical conditions where transferring the patient to Edmonton without surgery would add an unacceptable safety risk to patient care.
Physician Specialists are on-call to support the ED and Fort McMurray Urgent Care Centre.
Speaking of the UCC, it will continue to operate on a 24/7 basis as well. It’s located outside the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre.
AHS staff trained in psychological first aid along with members of a team from B.C. that specializes in psycho-social support following disasters will be stationed at each re-entry information centre. The centres will have walk-in appointments and are open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Occupational and physical therapy services as well as limited access to home care are accessible at a trailer at the UCC.
Therapy services run Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
