With more than 400 serviced lots ready for development, a high rental vacancy, and companies and personnel ready to build, Fort McMurray is in a good position to deal with the destruction of the wildfires.
That’s according to a letter addressed to the Minister of Municipal Affairs Danielle Larivee by the Urban Development Institute of Wood Buffalo.
The letter offers information on the resources available in the community which would be beneficial during a rebuild of the city.
It also says a balance needs to be found in getting people back into their homes on a timely basis while ensuring reasonable cost, quality work, and proper follow through.
The letter says industrial, commercial, and civil construction all have significant capacity and utilization of these companies and personnel would go a long way in assisting the rebuild.
