The RMWB is investigating the cause of two fires this week on Silin Forest Road that have destroyed a total of 12 condominium units.
A second fire broke out early Wednesday morning around 2 a.m. on the 400 block. Five units were lost, and another suffered serious smoke damage.
This is in addition to the fourplex and separate unit that were lost on Monday night in another fire.
When asked whether the fire was caused by a wildfire hotspot, a spokesperson for the municipality said the investigation hadn’t been completed.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, Premier Rachel Notley first said the incident had been a second explosion in addition to the one in Dickinsfield. On Wednesday she clarified, saying the Silin Forest destruction had been caused by a fire.
Officials say that natural gas was not being returned to the condominiums at the time of the fires.
The RMWB is working to update their fire map to include the damage from the fires so residents have an idea of whether their property is safe. Until then, individual addresses are not being provided.
