There’s some hope for the residents of Fort McMurray.
While thousands are displaced from the wildfires, fire fighters, utility crews, and heavy equipment operators are busy getting the city ready for the return of evacuees.
Premier Notley, Mayor Melissa Blake, RMWB Fire Chief Darby Allan, and Alberta Wildfire’s Chad Morrison spoke at a press conference after a brief tour of Fort McMurray.
Some of the highlights of the conference:
The priority for firefighters is to protect infrastructure.
Approximately 90 per cent of Fort McMurray has been saved.
Within two weeks a schedule for return will be announced.
In the meantime, a lot of questions remain about Red Cross assistance, school for children, and obtaining identification can be found through this link.
