A date has been set for the fourth annual Fort McMurray Half Marathon.
The event is happening on Sunday, September 18th, the Regional Recreation Corporation (RRC) has announced.
Runners of all ages and skill levels can participate, with 3k, 5k, 10k and half marathon distances offered as well as a Kids Fun Run.
“We are delighted with the strong community support this event continues to receive,” said Kelsey Stefanizyn, RCC Senior Sales and Events Manager and Event Chair of the Fort McMurray Half Marathon Organizing Committee.
On behalf of the RRC and the organizing committee, Stefanizyn says they are looking forward to seeing new runners join returning participants in taking on the half marathon challenge.
For eager athletes, early bird registration begins May 3rd and runs until May 17th with discounted fees.
During the early registration period, the fee breakdown is as follows:
- 3k run: $10
- 5k run: $20
- 10k run: $45
- Half marathon: $70
- Kids Fun Run: free
Registration can be completed at ONErec.ca beginning at 10 a.m. on May 3rd.
Participants will be able to collect their race packages at the Shell Place Box Office at MacDonald Island Park the week of September 10th to 17th.
