There’s no actual outwitting or outplaying or even an island in a Fort McMurray version of Survivor.
That’s according to MS Society Fort McMurray spokesperson Cait Evans who says Wine Survivor is the latest fundraiser for the upcoming MS Walk.
“You have to buy your way onto the island so it’s $20 to buy your way on the island and you also have to buy a bottle of wine and it’s a reverse raffle,” says Evans.
She adds there are elements such as immunity and alliances that participants can buy into as well.
“Typically with a raffle you want your name drawn first, but with this one you want your name to be drawn last. And if you’re the last person still on the island, similar to survivor, you win all of the bottles of wine,” says Evans.
Evans says to date there about 40 to 50 bottle in the kitty adding the monetary portion goes to the upcoming MS Walk.
This year the walk is being held May 28th at Borealis Park by the Snye.
The MS Society raises funds for support of those with multiple sclerosis and their families along with education, advocacy, and research into the cause and cure for the disease.
MS affects approximately 100,000 Canadians, 14,000 of whom live in Alberta.
