The NDP has refused to hold the line on spending
That remark from Wildrose Party leader Brian Jean after Rachel Notley’s address to the province last night.
Jean says the Wildrose warned Albertans last summer of the devastating impacts of several of the NDP’s tax increases and new regulations would have on the economy.
Among other criticisms, he says the premier has let other provinces demonize the oil industry.
He says he was also hoping the premier would do more.
“And that’s a message that will further hurt our economy. I can’t help but think that the Albertans sitting at their kitchen tables, wondering what do, expected so much more,” says Jean.
Notley said last night that next week’s budget would feature a $10 billion dollar deficit.
Jean says interest payments on that debt will mean less money for schools, hospitals, teachers and nurses.
About the budget, Jean says the province is seeing more of the same broken ideas that got the province into a mess in the first place.
