Stay off the ice.
That’s the message from the municipality as they warn residents about the instability of ice surfaces in the spring months.
The RMWB says as the temperatures warm and more rain and snow comes down, there’s less certainty when assessing ice thickness and safety.
They add that vehicles can send shockwaves through ice, further weakening integrity and creating the possibility of a break.
Put quite simply, if you’re not 100 percent sure, it’s best to steer clear of the ice.
