Despite an oil price rally this week, more workers are being let go by Suncor.
That’s according to a report in the Globe and Mail which adds the exact number of positions affected is unknown but is said to be less than previous cuts to the workforce.
CEO Steve Williams told staff this week via a webcast.
He says with deferrals of future expansions and the shelving of one of its units at its Montreal refinery there is less demand for staff.
Suncor is one of several energy companies deferring or shelving projects in light of the continued low oil prices.
