There’s a new support group in town with those suffering from a mental illness.
The CMHA Wood Buffalo Chapter has expanded their bi-polar support group to be inclusive of all people dealing with any type of mental illness.
Consumer Advocate Sabrina Morrison says sometimes people can’t recognize a way forward on their own, and need a little bit of help from others.
“I always tell people you can’t see the picture when you’re in the frame. We always have to reach out,” says Morrison.
Morrison says the group can be very helpful, as it develops community ties among participants.
“So it’s really just to meet the needs of the participants on a grass-root level as well as allowing them to connect with one another,” says Morrison.
The program will run on Tuesdays alternating between the hospital and the CMHA offices.
You can listen to more of Morrison’s interview with Chris Vandenbreekel on Fort McMurray Matters at noon.
